    Dear Sirs
    I want to forward a complaint concerning your Iveco dealer in the Faroe Islands.
    I work as a driving instructor in the Faroe Islands. In September 2013 I bought a second hand Iveco 440E 43, frame number WMJE2NSJ004247593, from your dealer here , S/pf Jón Thomasen. I was very happy with the deal.
    In autumn 2016 I was offeredby your dealer a newer Iveco Stralis, production year 2010, frame number WJME2NTH404375352 instead of the old one. I was given the impression by the dealer that this solution would reduce maintenance costs significantly. At that time I was preparing to stop my career due to my age.We signed a contract.
    However, maintenance expenses on the later car have been huge compared to the old one – which I was not prepared for. Lots of hours were spent on repair as well as expensive spare parts were bought as well as transport costs were very high, due to the transport solution, chosen by your dealer without my knowledge. I was placed on the sideline.
    This is part of what has been done since I bought the Stralis truck:
    Change Turbo kit C10 22 hrs., approximately 5.600,00 euro total
    Front Frame Computer FFC 8 hrs., approximately 1.000,00 euro total
    Fan control, 14 hrs, approximately 3.350,00 euro total
    Check/repair of lift: change of 9 fuses and 4 diodes, 10 hrs., approximatically 670,00 euro.
    There are other smaller repairs, but I find that they have spent very much time on these repairs, and the cost in general is very high.
    Another important and serious reason why the garage had to replace the turbo was primarily based on misleading information and instruction from the dealer’s mechanic. The driver, who immediately reacted to warning lights, contacted the mechanic twice. Despite this he was told not to worry, but to continue driving which resulted in the turbo breaking down, and the exhaust catching fire. I was not involved in any way, nor informed about the repair.
    In general my experience is that otherwise the garage is a very professional one with good mechanics. However, the information I received from the dealer, before we signed the contract, does not match with the behaviour after the deal was concluded. It was not an honest deal in my point of view, and I would never have signed the contract, if I knew then, what I know now.
    In addition I find that the information given by the garage – twice – to ignore the warning lights has caused unnecessary expenses for me, compared to the fact that I was given the view that there would be very few and limited expenses in connection with maintenance with the newer truck. In all I have received invoices for about Euro 12.500,00 within 14 months.
    Finally I can inform you that your dealer has sued me in court because of the repair of the turbo – which the garage is responsible of in my point of view This is a bad solution for both parties and negative advertising for your dealer and for Iveco in general.
    Hopefully you take the time to consider how to act, as I find that we could meet somewhere rather than to leave the disagreement to the court to decide.
    Your dealer hasbeen informed about my decision to contact you. Likewise I have written to him to find a reasonable solution, but in vain.
